Privacy Policy

Niche Teacher ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at nicheteacher.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. Please read it carefully before using the Site.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide directly

• Email address — collected when you voluntarily submit your email to join the Pro waitlist via the sidebar form or upgrade modal. Submitting your email is entirely optional and not required to use the free tools.
• Generator inputs — subject, grade level, topic, and other parameters you enter when generating lesson plans, rubrics, or worksheets. We do not ask for your name, school name, or student names, and we strongly recommend you do not include personally identifiable information about students or staff in generator inputs.

b. Information collected automatically

• Session identifier — a randomly generated, anonymous session ID stored in your browser's local storage. This identifier is used solely to associate saved documents in "My Library" with your browser session. It does not contain your name, email, or any directly identifying information. It persists until you clear your browser's local storage.
• Usage data — a daily generation count stored in your browser's local storage to enforce the free-tier limit (3 generations per day). This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
• Log and technical data — standard server logs may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. We use this data for security, debugging, and aggregate analytics. We do not use it to build individual user profiles for advertising.

c. Information collected via third-party services

• Database — documents you save to "My Library" are stored in our hosted database (Supabase) associated with your anonymous session ID.
• AI generation — your generator inputs are sent to OpenAI's API to produce lesson plans, rubrics, and worksheets. OpenAI processes this data subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We do not include student names, student IDs, or other student-specific personally identifiable information in requests to OpenAI, and we strongly discourage you from doing so.
• Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how educators use the site, which tools are most used, and where users encounter friction. These tools only load after you consent via our cookie banner. If you decline analytics cookies, neither tool loads. GA4 data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Microsoft Clarity data is subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and improve the Site and its tools
• To associate saved documents with your browser session in My Library
• To send you a single notification email when Niche Teacher Pro launches (only if you voluntarily joined the waitlist)
• To monitor for abuse, security incidents, and technical errors
• To analyze aggregate, non-identifiable usage patterns

We do not use your information for behavioral advertising, retargeting, or sale to third parties.

3. Waitlist Email Consent and Marketing

If you submit your email address to join the waitlist, you are consenting to receive one notification email when Niche Teacher Pro launches and, if you remain opted in, occasional product updates. You may unsubscribe from any marketing email by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email or by emailing us at privacy@nicheteacher.com. We will not send you marketing email without your consent, and we will not sell or share your email address with third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

• Service providers — we share data with vendors who help us operate the Site, including our database host (Supabase) and AI provider (OpenAI). These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to us.
• Legal compliance — we may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Niche Teacher, its users, or the public.
• Business transfers — if Niche Teacher is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via the Site or email before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data Retention

• Waitlist emails — retained until Niche Teacher Pro has launched and marketing communications have concluded, or until you request deletion, whichever comes first.
• My Library documents — retained as long as your session ID is active. Because sessions are browser-based, documents associated with a cleared browser or a different device will not be accessible. We may delete inactive session data after 12 months of inactivity.
• Server logs — typically retained for 30-90 days for security and debugging purposes.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

This Site uses browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to store your session ID and daily usage count on your own device. When you visit the Site for the first time, a cookie consent banner is displayed. Analytics cookies (for Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity) are only set if you click "Accept Analytics." If you decline or dismiss the banner without accepting, no analytics cookies are set. You may change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage. 7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Niche Teacher is a tool designed for K-12 teachers and school staff, not for use by students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@nicheteacher.com and we will promptly delete that information.

If you are a student under 13, please do not submit any personal information on this Site. If you are a teacher using this Site with students, please do not enter student names, student IDs, or other student-specific personally identifiable information into generator fields, as this data will be transmitted to a third-party AI provider.

8. FERPA Notice

Niche Teacher is designed for use by teachers to generate instructional materials. We do not process education records as defined by FERPA. Generator inputs should not contain student-specific information. If your school district requires a data processing agreement or FERPA compliance agreement before using third-party tools, please contact us before using the Site with student-related data.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal information
• Correction — request that we correct inaccurate personal information
• Opt-out of marketing — unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time

10. California Residents

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. 11. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect personal information stored in our systems, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

12. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, if changes are material, we will notify waitlist subscribers by email. Your continued use of the Site after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
